The wildly successful India Blockchain Week 2022 brought 10,000+ blockchain developers and enthusiasts to Bangalore, India. Two of the feature events were Filecoin’s FIL Bangalore and FIL Orbit India. These inspired a follow up series of meetups in Goa the following month.
In conjunction with experimental music TV/festival producers, Goa Music Lab and the Filecoin-based project, LEGACY.Page, FIL Goa was organised for December 27-28 2022, in Arambol, north Goa.
Tuesday Evening – Casual Meetup, Live Music
Proceedings began on Tuesday December 27, hosted at Lush Garden, Arambol. The intention was a super-casual check-in, to welcome the dozens of prospectively blockchain-interested developers, founders and artists. In particular, curious musicians attended, hoping for a glimpse at how emerging web3 solutions could improve their creations, visibility and cashlow. An example was through evolving, dynamic NFTs for collections. Following the meetup was an excellent evening of acoustic music, hosted by Tantric Monkeys.
Wednesday Evening of Presentations
With the audience warmed up, Wednesday, December 28 was a more serious affair, hosted at Hotel Sunshine. The venue is a classy, Victorian-era space close to the centre of Arambol, complete with a picturesque rooftop. Around 20 people watched numerous presentations, including from Filecoin FVM, LEGACY, Dynamic NFTs, KlimaDAO, International Institute of Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (IICSR), and the Musiverse. Guests were treated to insights into Artificial Intelligence, perma-storage, useful NFTs, DAOs, and more.
Following the presentations were a catered buffet, and an audio/visual show by DJ CryptoKNYT. Guests milled around for hours, engaging in deeper conversations and establishing lasting connections.
Future FIL GOA Events
The initial FIL GOA casual blockchain meetup was a test exercise, gauging the possibility of a more vast Goa Blockchain Week, at some point in 2023. Smaller meetups are being discussed for March 2023.
In particular, the team sees a unique, socially-transformative opportunity to engage Developers with Artists, and to remind that both groups have a little of the other, in one another. Let today’s developers remember and adapt to the imperative human connection, in their code, disruptive applications and prompts for AI, machine learning and more, for a harmonious future.
